Millennials more likely to pick up the bill

New research has found that older millennials (aged 28-37) are the most likely to pick up the bill when dining out in a group.

The new findings by Creditcards.com found that baby boomers were the tightest when it came to paying up, with just 13% saying that they had picked up the bill at least once in the last year.

Matt Schultz, senior industry analyst for Creditcards.com, said in reference to older millennials: “That is the group that are a little more established in their career.”

When paying for a group it was noted in the research that people often expect to get the money back from each diner despite almost 50% of those surveyed saying they were never repaid.

The survey indicated that the high percentage of generous millennials could be due to the accumulation of credit card points of which millennials are the biggest collectors.
