Boxpark temporarily ceases trading amid Covid-19 pandemic

Pop-up mall company Boxpark has announced the temporary closure of all its sites, forcing any tenants still operating as a delivery service to cease trading.

Boxpark which has three locations in London including Croydon, Shoreditch and Wembley, closed its doors in line with government orders. Initially, traders at the establishment continued to offer delivery-only options, but that has now also been stopped.

In a statement, Boxpark CEO Roger Wade said: “At Boxpark, our number one priority has always been the wellbeing of all our customers, staff members and traders. With this in mind, we have made the difficult decision to completely shut our sites from Friday 27 March until further notice. This also means that delivery will no longer be available.

“As Covid-19 continues to spread, we must carefully consider the health and safety of our traders and employees who have continued to work. We have a responsibility to look out for them and under the current circumstances we believe that it is no longer viable for them to continue coming to work.”

Wade added: “Boxpark is a pioneering social dining and retail destination, underpinned by great people, so we are confident we will survive this. This is a temporary situation and we’re looking forward to welcoming you all back through our doors very soon – please use this time to stay at home with your loved ones.”
