SSP Group appoints new deputy CEO
Jonathan Davies will serve as deputy following the announcement that Simon Smith will step down as chief executive officer at the end of the year
SSP Group, an operator of food and beverage outlets in travel locations worldwide, has announced that Jonathan Davies has been appointed as deputy CEO.
He will step into the position with immediate effect, and will also continue in his current role of CFO.
This follows the recent announcement that Simon Smith will step down from his role as CEO at the end of the year. Davies will hold the role until a replacement is found.
SSP operates restaurants, bars, cafés, food courts, lounges and convenience stores in airports, train stations, motorway service stations and other leisure locations.
Mike Clasper, chairman of the board, said: “I’m delighted that Jonathan is taking on this role, which will ensure continuity of leadership during the transition period and provide invaluable support to the new CEO when appointed.
“Jonathan’s long experience and extensive knowledge of the business have been key to SSP in responding to the challenges of the pandemic. Under his stewardship, SSP has maintained a tight control of its operating costs and created a strong liquidity position.”
He added: “His financial and commercial expertise will continue to be essential as we move into the next phase of our strategy, re-opening the estate and taking advantage of the many new opportunities we anticipate as the travel sector recovers.”
