The Campaner to open at Chelsea Barracks in May

The main menu offers charcoal-grilled meats, shellfish, veg, and whole fish cooked in the Josper oven

The Campaner has announced the opening of its first international restaurant from Los Reyes del Mango at Chelsea Barracks on 2 May 2023.

With Mar Martín leading the project along with a team of professionals, The Campaner will offer an all-day dining with Spanish cuisine from Barcelona in a new landmark building designed by architect Ben Pentreath.

Campaner said the restaurant takes its name from the Catalan tradition of the town bell ringer announcing important events by ringing the bell of the local church.

The new restaurant features “double height” doors, “high vaulted” ceilings, “large arched” crystal windows and a central island bar.

For the warmer months the restaurant has created a wraparound outdoor terrace, with seating under the cloistered walkway.

The Campaner will offer a varied menu of seasonal dishes that are rooted in the “finest” local ingredients, featuring produce from the UK’s suppliers including Wright Bros, Natoora, Neal’s Yard, HG Walter, and Walter and Sons, as well as herbs and vegetables harvested directly from the kitchen gardens outside the restaurant.

The opening menu will include oyster gratin with bearnaise sauce; roast leek with pickled tomatoes, goat cheese, and hazelnuts; steak tartare served on bone marrow; and scallops with celeriac and caviar.

The main menu offers charcoal-grilled meats, shellfish, veg, and whole fish cooked in the Josper oven.

Guests will be able to choose sides such as roasted, fried or parmentier potatoes, roasted vegetables, and fresh salads, together with “freshly made” sauces including aioli and romesco, to accompany each dish.

The monkfish and lobster casserole, a Terraza Martinzez “hallmark classic”, will also be featured on The Campaner’s menu, but reinterpreted using local ingredients.

Between 11:30am and 6pm, The Campaner will also have a casual all-day menu available, offering everything from eggs and pastries at breakfast, to salads, jamon, oysters, Exmoor caviar, and cheeses from Neal’s Yard Dairy.

Desserts include lemon pie, a seasonal fruit pie, crema Catalana, chocolate ingot, and cheesecake.

Campaner will also offer sherries including Fernando de Castilla Antique Oloroso, Adorado Menade Solera 1967, and Palo Cortado. Almacenista Cayetano del Pino y Cia, along with a list of red and white wines from Spain.
Beers include Estrella Damm as well as Inedit, created in 2008 by Damm’s master brewers, Ferran Adrià, and the team of sommeliers at el Bulli.
