Caravan to open new site in Covent Garden

Additionally, the new restaurant will also serve coffee blends and hand-picked single origin coffees locally roasted at Caravan’s North London roastery

Caravan, the coffee and all-day dining restaurant, is set to open the doors of its new flagship restaurant in Covent Garden.

Set in a Grade II listed Victorian granary, the new restaurant will open its doors from 23 October on Drury Lane.

Spanning two floors, it is the brand’s second central London restaurant since the opening of Fitzrovia in 2018.

The design narrative for Caravan Covent Garden is inspired by two principal themes: a connection to the outdoor world and the “rich” industrial heritage of the building and the local area.

The design team used salvaged, renovated, and repurposed fittings throughout, as well as natural sustainable materials, just like with Caravan’s other restaurant fit outs.

The new Covent Garden restaurant also features an array of spaces including an alfresco terrace dining, a light-filled lower ground floor, its “largest” private hire space to date, a refurbished vintage celestial sounds system in the basement cocktail bar, and “London’s most romantic table” for two positioned in a subterranean light well.

The restaurant will be open from morning till night offering breakfast, brunch, lunch, cocktails and dinner and the menu is inspired by Caravan’s global travels and features “fresh”, “seasonal” and “healthy” dishes.

Signature dishes include jalapeno cornbread, steamed cod dumplings, and crispy chilli salt tofu. Meanwhile, new additions for Covent Garden feature grilled halloumi and braised greens, pan-fried sea bream fillet, split pea dhal, Islands flourless chocolate cake and vanilla pancakes with bay leaf and lemongrass poached pear.

Also featuring on the menu are cocktails created especially for the launch of Covent Garden, including the ‘Pacific Rim’, a pacific coast inspired cocktail and Christmas specials, such as cranberry and tarragon negroni and white chocolate and coconut milk punch

Additionally, the new restaurant will also serve coffee blends and hand-picked single origin coffees locally roasted at Caravan’s North London roastery.

Laura Harper Hinton, Caravan co-founder and CEO, said: “We are so excited to bring Caravan’s unique blend of culinary creativity and craft coffee to Covent Garden. As we open the doors to our newest site, we’re excited to welcome people from morning all the way through until the night, hosting guests from locals to tourists and sharing our well-travelled menus.”
