Today’s news in brief – 20/12/23

November saw a 4% rise in delivery sales but a 6% dip in takeaways among top managed restaurant groups, according to CGA data. Deliveries now constitute 61% of orders, up from 52% a year ago, with takeaways and click-and-collect accounting for 39%. Though there’s been consistent growth, it has slowed compared with prior months. The volume of orders declined by 6%, signalling potential challenges for restaurants to maintain delivery sales growth while preserving margins in 2024.

Lavazza is unveiling a flagship site in central London, drawing inspiration from its Milan store. Nestled opposite Liberty on Great Marlborough Street, the historical building will feature a Caffetteria, Pasticceria, and Gastronomia, showcasing an array of Lavazza’s exclusive coffee designs, pastries, and dishes curated by Michelin-starred chef Federico Zanasi.
