At first floor level there is a four bedroom owners/manager’s flat with lounge, bathroom and kitchen.

The Royal Oak has been owned and operated for the last six years by husband and wife team, Lynsey and James Hogarty.

They said: “After six years of running the pub we feel now is the right time to take it to market as new ventures await. Marslie approached us some months ago to tell us about a number of other pubs Christie & Co had sold in the North East recently and we felt that she is the best agent to represent us in the sale. Customers should be reassured that it’s business as usual until we do sell, and that we remain open and very busy.”

Marslie McGregor, business agent at Christie and Co which is handling the sale, added: “I am very excited to bring to market The Royal Oak, Medomsley. The current owners have built the business to the success it is today; one of the area’s most popular and well-known venues serving quality, locally sourced food and drink.

“We expect much interest in this property and look forward to finding a buyer. The successful purchasers will be inheriting not only a well-loved village pub, but one with a healthy and consistent level of trade.”
