Today’s news in brief – 21/05/24

The Big Table Group reported a pre-tax loss of £13.8m for the year ended October 2023, despite having increased its turnover from £26.1m to £31.6m. The owner of Café Rouge, Bella Italia, and Frankie and Benny’s attributed its performance to rising inflation, which had commenced during 2022 and had also “greatly impacted” 2023. 

Costa Coffee will feature as the coffee provider of choice at this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris. Bespoke outlets across Paris will be operated throughout the games, as well as across some of the event’s key venues at Athletes’ Village, Place de la Concorde, the Eiffel Tower, Roland-Garros, Versailles and Le Golf National.

Gordon Ramsay Restaurants will open the sixth location of Bread Street Kitchen and Bar in Stratford Cross’ landmark Pavilion building. The 3,000 sq ft rooftop bar offers al-fresco dining with views across the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and East Bank Cultural quarter, and on the ground floor there is an additional 30-seater outside terrace.

Six by Nico has launched a new site at Westgate in Oxford. The Chippie takes inspiration from chef Nico Simeone’s family fish shop in Glasgow and will be running till Sunday 30 June. Since its inception in 2017, the Six by Nico team have developed, “refined and evolved” The Chippie experience.
