Today’s news in brief – 25/06/24

Tortilla has acquired Fresh Burritos in France for €3.95m (£3.34m). The deal was funded from the group’s existing debt facilities and is expected to contribute £2.5m of additional annual adjusted EBITDA at 24 months maturity. It comes as the latest step in Tortilla’s growth strategy that will see the brand expand internationally and double-down on franchise.

Stonegate has appointed Mark Davies as a non-executive director. Davies is the CEO of Primary Health Properties, the FTSE 250 UK real estate investment trust, and a non-executive director of Palace Capital, a regional focused REIT. He was also a non-executive director of the British Beer and Pub Association from 2020-2022.

Chef Merlin Labron-Johnson will relaunch Osip as a restaurant with rooms. Located at Number One Bruton in Somerset, Osip will relocate to a 16th-Century inn just outside the village. His new vision has attracted backing from investors Johnny Smith and Daniel Willis, who are already established London restaurateurs.

Dakaah will be opening in Camden Market’s Hawley Wharf on 24 July. The menu will be split into bar snacks, small plates and bigger plates. The restaurant will prioritise the use of free-range British produce and some elements are sourced directly from Bangladesh, including Kalijeera rice, a small Bangladeshi variety with a nutty aroma and delicate texture.
