Pizza Union eyes Central London expansion

The pizza chain has attributed its performance to improved sales trends as the post-pandemic’s gradual return to office picked up momentum last year

Pizza Union is “selectively” searching for new sites across Central London as it has reported that sales rose 2% from £8.03m to £8.18m during the 52-week period to 31 December 2023.

Pizza Union is currently negotiating on a few potential sites, but none are in the legal stage of completion at this time.

Despite saying that the trading environment continued to be challenging, Pizza Union still recorded a net profit of £395,444 during the period compared with its net loss of £434,746 in 2022.

While the company continued to build brand awareness across its existing six pizza bars in Central London, Pizza Union did not have any new openings in 2023 as it prioritised managing its cost of goods in the inflationary environment and keeping control of labour costs.

In the second half of 2023, Pizza Union benefited from lower utility costs following the material spike in the previous year.
