Today’s news in brief – 09/08/24

RBI’s total revenues for Q2 leapt 17.2% to $2.08bn (£1.63bn), as group-wide sales grew 5.4% to $11.25bn (£8.82bn). Tim Hortons saw a 5.4% rise in group-wide sales to $1.93bn (£1.51bn), while Burger King experienced a slight 0.7% decline to $2.92bn (£2.29bn). Popeyes also saw sales growth of 4.6%, reaching $1.55bn (£1.22bn) during the period. 

Itsu will be opening its first site at the Trafford Centre this autumn. The Asian-inspired chain will occupy a 2,900 sq ft space on Upper Regent Crescent and will offer sushi, salads, wraps and soups among others. The new restaurant will also include digital ordering screens to allow  for the customisation and instant access to nutritional and allergen information.

The Salad Project will open its sixth site on London’s Fenchurch Street on 16 August, and will house the group’s Training Academy as well as a Testing Lab for “the latest recipe development and customer testing”. The new location was chosen for its proximity to Central London offices and marks a step in the group’s plan to open 20 stores by 2028.

Proper Pubs has launched its ‘Meet the Team’ initiative to address the nationwide hospitality recruitment issue. The group, which is a division of Admiral Taverns, has been hosting a series of open days at several of its sites across the country to combat the issue since the end of July. Pubs set to host more open days will be in Bristol, Hull and Bredbrury among others.
