Today’s news in brief – 15/10/24

Papa Johns’ UK arm has reported that pre-tax losses widened to £18.5m in FY23 from a previous loss of £2.9m in 2022. The group saw its turnover rise slightly from £95.1m to £95.9m during 2023 in the UK. It comes after the group revealed earlier in March 2024 that it intended to close 43 locations which it had deemed to be “underperforming”. 

Vietnamese Kitchen will open its fourth Kêu site in Borough this November, which will introduce an expanded menu featuring a wider variety of noodles and rice dishes, with extended hours to cater for late-night noodle stops. The new venue will bring a fresh look for the Kêu brand, inspired by ancient Saigon. 

Pizza Pilgrims will open a new site in Chelsea on 18 November. The new 2,200 sq ft pizzeria is designed to feel like a beach bar straight out of the island of Capri. The ground floor, with space for 40 guests features ornate tiles and striped parasols, with a focal point in the ‘Chelsea Flour Show’ arch made entirely of pizza flour bags. 

Hydes Brewery has reopened The Nursery Inn after a £250k refurb. The Grade II-listed pub that was built in 1939 benefits from a respectful redecoration, new furniture and fixtures that are in keeping with the pub’s original build. Jordan Nolan is the new manager of the Nursery Inn, taking on his first full managerial role for Hydes.
