Knoops has welcomed Lush co-founder Andrew Gerrie to the board amid a sales uplift of 22% like-for-like during the five-week period to 29 December 2024. The company’s revenue growth of 79% year-to-date is also on track to deliver the business plan for the year ending March 2025, with annual UK revenues of £16m. 

Marston’s saw total Q1 sales rise 3% despite poor weather conditions in November in January, and has expressed confidence in delivering FY25 market expectations. Like-for-like sales during the quarter also rose 2%, while the two weeks which included Christmas and New Year’s celebrations saw like-for-like sales rise 11.1%.

UK drinks sales dipped 9% in the first full week of January as consumers reduced their visits to hospitality venues after Christmas and New Year, according to CGA. The “slow” week is in contrast to the final fortnight of last year, when sales jumped by 4% and 8% year-on-year. All main alcoholic drinks categories were impacted by consumers’ restraint.

Mediterranean-inspired restaurant Bodega has appointed a new head chef. Rhodri Davies has joined the Cardiff-based venue having honed his skills at two Michelin-recommended establishments, and as a former contestant on Masterchef: The Professionals 2021. Bodega offers snacks, small plates, and sharer plates, along with a wide variety of fine wines.
