Today’s news in brief – 14/02/25

Punch Pubs saw its revenues rise 1.35% in Q1 ended 1 December 2024. It comes as the pub group spent £11m on the acquisition of 18 pubs, as well as a further £10.7m on expansion and maintenance. The group’s three divisions – leased and tenanted, and managed partnership and laine – also delivered like-for-like underlying EBITDA growth of 6%.   

Sticks’n’Sushi has appointed Simon Gaske as its chief marketing officer. Gaske, who has over 20 years of experience in the hospitality industry, brings extensive commercial experience to the business and will work closely with CEO Andreas Karlsson. He will be responsible for shaping the brand strategy, and developing and executing marketing campaigns.

Restaurant group, The Stable, has opened a new site in Padstow this Valentine’s Day. with restaurants in Fistral, Plymouth, Bath, Bristol, Cardiff and Bournemouth, The Stable is known for partnering with south west producers for its menu – which includes a range of craft cider and pizzas. Applebee’s has officially reopened its Borough Market restaurant following a refresh to celebrate its 25th anniversary. The company stated that the site’s “next era” will be defined through their brand new concept, menu and freshly designed space. The new space has 70 covers, a fresh fish counter upon entry, and an extended dining and bar seating area.
