Hertfordshire Catering appoints new executive chef
Another key focus for Stanley is equipping HCL’s catering teams with the tools and training needed to maintain food standards

Hertfordshire Catering Limited (HCL) has appointed David Stanley as its new executive chef.
With “extensive” experience across multiple sectors of the food industry, Stanley brings a passion for nutrition, innovation, and delivering high-quality meals.
In his new role, he will lead the development of HCL’s school catering offerings, ensuring quality and variety. He is said to prioritise responsible sourcing and minimising food waste to enhance meal sustainability.
In his new role, Stanley will include creating seasonal, nutritious menus with more plant-based options, embracing food trends, enhancing dining experiences, and streamlining meal service in schools.
Another key focus for Stanley is equipping HCL’s catering teams with the tools and training needed to maintain food standards.
He aims to do that by fostering collaboration, inclusivity, and creativity across all school sites.
Looking ahead, Stanley identifies growth opportunities in school catering, focusing on enhancing meal offerings to meet students’ changing preferences.
He said: “Food is at the heart of what I do, but I truly believe we need to create a sustainable future for the next generation. This means purchasing responsibly and ensuring our menus reflect this commitment.
“I want to enable and equip our teams with the tools they need to deliver fantastic food experiences. By improving quality, consistency, and presentation, we can make a real impact on the way children and young people experience school meals.”
He added: “I’m thrilled to join HCL and be part of a team that shares my passion for great food and its power to inspire the next generation.”
