Emberwood to debut in Bath

The opening of the new restaurant comes as the city prepares to celebrate the 250th anniversary of its most celebrated daughter, Jane Austen

Open-fire restaurant Emberwood has announced that it is set to open in Bath in May, with reservations opening on 3 April.

The restaurant has been brought to life as part of a multi-million-pound restoration of No. 5 Queen Square, an iconic landmark of the city.

Emberwood takes its name partly from John Wood the Elder, the visionary architect behind much of Georgian Bath’s architectural grandeur.

David Hazell, formerly of Michelin-starred Paco Tapas and Bristol’s Clifton Lido, has been appointed to the role of executive head chef.

The project is being overseen by leading consultancy Five Graces Hospitality, whose portfolio includes celebrated London destinations such as Julie’s in Holland Park and Dorian in Notting Hill.

The menu at Emberwood will look to make the most of local produce, celebrating Somerset and the South West.

Highlights from the menu include burnt aubergine with goat’s curd, confit tomatoes, and green beans, as well as crispy Porthilly oysters with Somerset lardo and spiced ketchup.

Complimenting the menu is an inspired cocktail list crafted by Zoe Burgess, the celebrated author of The Cocktail Cabinet and director of Atelier Pip.
