The Newmarket Gin awarded a 1-star Great Taste award
Great Taste, an accreditation scheme for fine food and drink, has announced the winners of its 2019 awards event.
Out of 12,772 products sent in from over 100 different countries, The Newmarket Gin from Newmarket, Suffolk was awarded a 1-star Great Taste award, which means judges dubbed it a drink that delivers “fantastic flavour”.
Using an exclusive combination of 10 botanicals, which are distilled in a traditional copper pot, The Newmarket Gin can be accompanied with a good tonic.
Judged by over 500 of the most “demanding” palates, belonging to food critics, chefs, cooks, restaurateurs, buyers, retailers and producers, as well as a whole host of food writers and journalists, Great Taste is widely acknowledged as the “most respected food accreditation scheme for artisan and speciality food producers”.
CEO Noel Byrne, of the The Newmarket Gin, said: “We’re delighted to be recognised by the great taste awards for The Newmarket Gin. We have worked hard to produce a high end crafted product which we feel incorporates and represents all that is Newmarket.
“We started with the botanicals, nearly all of which are locally sourced from Newmarket and its surrounding areas and then complemented this with an in-keeping design. Designing a bottle which truly captures Newmarket’s heritage was very important, we wanted it to be a statement but also to capture Newmarket’s history. We are absolutely thrilled to have been awarded 1 star and are excited to add this to our list of accolades.”
