BBPA welcomes new members

The British Beer and Pub Association has welcomed an array of new members of different sizes from across the brewing and pub industry, further strengthening the organisation's role as the voice of UK breweries and pubs. Since the beginning of 2023, the BBPA has added 13 new businesses to its membership, helping to support it further in representing the interests of pubs and brewers of all different kinds to politicians, industry and the public. Amongst the new members are non-alcoholic beer brand Days, premium pub company City Pub Group and international brewer Damm, following the acquisition of its first brewery outside the Iberian Peninsula and Britain’s largest pub company, Stonegate. They join the BBPA's existing members that collectively run over 20,000 of the nation’s pubs and brew 90% of the UK’s beer as well as a range of supply chain partners and associate members who support BBPA members to collaborate from grain to glass. David McDowall, chief executive of Stonegate said: “At Stonegate, we feel it is important to use our voice to positively promote the huge contribution pubs and bars make to the local and national economy. “Alongside other key trade bodies, the BBPA provides powerful representation to the Government on issues that impact the sector as well as contributing to the consultations that shape legislation. As the biggest operator of pubs and bars in the UK it is important that we engage with and support that dialogue.” Guillem Castellà, general manager at Damm, said: “We are delighted to join the BBPA, the UK's leading brewery and pub trade association, which does great work providing real and tangible value to the UK economy and having a positive impact on society. Working together will help us improve awareness of the sector and protect its reputation. We hope to contribute to the sector being valued positively by all stakeholders.” Mike Gammell and Duncan Keith, Days co-founders, added: “We’re delighted to have joined the BBPA and look forward to working closely with them as the alcohol-free beer category continues to grow! “We're really proud to be building on a rich history of British brewing by brewing our 0.0% beers at home in Scotland and we're excited to work closely with the BBPA and the rest of their members to support the continued growth of the UK beer industry!” The new members follow the BBPA's rebrand which launched earlier this year, reinstating the organisation as the voice of the sector and energising the industry to look ahead to a bright future for brewers and pubs in the UK. Emma McClarkin, chief executive of the British Beer and Pub Association said: “We are thrilled to have so many new members join us, and we believe this reflects the vital work we have done on behalf of our sector in recent times and the support we are providing members through the continuing challenges and opportunities. “The breadth of these new members reflects the vitality and dynamism of our sector, and how we have begun to rebound dynamically from three years of exceptionally challenging circumstances. With the right Government support, our sector is a powerful engine for growth, supporting economies and communities in every city, town and village in the country.”
