Wine bar pair to open third Hackney site

Wine bar owners chef Will Gleave and businessman Phil Bracey are set to open their third Hackney site in addition to the existing P Franco and Bright sites.

The new bar will be named Peg, after a Steely Dan song of the same name, and is set to open on Morning Lane on the site of the former Legs restaurant in February. The bar will not take reservations with only bar space available, with “a focus on keeping prices down, small team, simple food, and a record player”.

GM and co-owner Bracey said in a statement: “We’ve signed the lease on the former Legs site (120-122 Morning Lane, E9 6LH). Central to Peg is the ingredients where by we’ll be aiming to use some of the best produce and have it cooked simply, in many cases of the grill on skewers.”

In his statement Bracey denied rumours that the pair were to open a Japanese bar, saying it would be “silly to lump our ambitions into a Japanese box”.
