Wadworth offloads 21 pubs to Liberation Group
Wadworth has confirmed it has exchanged contracts for the sale of 21 pubs to Liberation Group for an undisclosed sum.
The 21 pubs are predominantly situated in the south west of England in locations near Bristol, Gloucester and Bath.
The brewery which was founded in 1875 and operates 150 pubs across the country had to recently close all of its branches following the government’s second lockdown announcement.
Charles Bartholomew, chairman of Wadworth said: “I can now confirm that we have exchanged contracts to sell 21 pubs to the Liberation Group.
“We are working with our teams in each pub to enable the seamless transition to Liberation to take place over the next four weeks. I would like to sincerely thank all of our people in these 21 pubs for their significant contribution to Wadworth over many years.”
He added: “All Wadworth employees in the managed sites will transfer to Liberation under TUPE. I am in no doubt that these pubs will continue to thrive under their new ownership and remain central to the local communities that they serve.”
Jonathan Lawson, CEO of Liberation Group said he was “delighted” to welcome the Wadworth team to the company and will ensure the transition is “smooth and successful”.
