Bury St Edmunds restaurant that opened less than a year ago, closes

Bury St Edmunds’ Bourgee restaurant is set to close down after it opened just a year ago.
The Bourgee restaurant group has been placed in administration and has already shut down sites in Southend and Chelmsford.
Colenzo’s, the company that has taken over Bourgee’s Chelmsford restaurant, and is set to take over the Southend site, has announced it will not be involved with the Bury St Edmunds branch.
In a statement, Bourgee directors Mark Baumann and James Welling said: “Following a protracted dispute and lengthy discussions between all parties – it is with sadness that we can confirm the Bourgee Restaurants located in Southend, Chelmsford and Bury St Edmunds have now closed.
“Despite exhaustive efforts to purchase and retain all venues, a way forward could not be agreed. As a consequence the ownership of these restaurants has passed to a new owner.
“We understand that the sudden closures have left customers confused and disappointed. We sincerely apologise for this.”
Last week Ensors Accountants announced they had taken over the administration of Bourgee Restaurants, however the Bourgee directors added in a statement that “We look forward to soon announcing exciting news regarding new Bourgee restaurant venues”.
