Sticks’n’Sushi has announced that two-time Formula One world champion Fernando Alonso has co-invested in the business alongside McWin Food Ecosystem Fund.
McWin acquired a majority shareholding in Sticks’n’Sushi in February 2024. Since acquisition, the brand has enjoyed further expansion, opening new London locations in Richmond, Islington and Battersea Power Station.
The restaurant group now has 15 locations in the United Kingdom and 30 across its footprint of Denmark, Germany and the UK.
Alonso’s investment alongside McWin is the driver’s first direct investment into a restaurant group and is the culmination of a longstanding relationship with McWin. He has been associated with McWin Capital Partners since it was founded in 2021.
Harry Goss, chairman of Sticks’n’Sushi and partner at McWin Capital Partners, said: “We’ve enjoyed a great partnership with Fernando from the early days of our incorporation. His investment into Sticks’n’Sushi is a tremendous validation of the quality of the business and the clear opportunity it has on the road ahead. Fernando Alonso and Sticks’n’Sushi have a shared passion for excellence, and we are excited to see what this partnership will bring.”
Alonso added: “I am excited to have partnered with McWin to invest in the Sticks’n’Sushi restaurant group with the clear objective of making it the “Brand” of reference in the Japanese food segment in Great Britain and Europe. Together we share the same core values, and I look forward to this fantastic journey with McWin.”
Alonso won his two F1 titles in 2005 and 2006 and has also won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice, in 2018 and 2019, and the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2018–19.
