Cornish Bakery to open six more locations in 2025

In preparation for Easter, the company will also be undertaking five refurbishment projects to increase seating capacity

Cornish Bakery has announced its plans to open a further six locations throughout 2025, following the successful launch of a site in Cirencester earlier this year – taking the estate to a total of 66 bakeries.

According to the group, the Cotswold market town and its local community have “warmly” welcomed the new bakery which also performed “significantly” ahead of its target figures within the first few weeks of operation.

In preparation for Easter, the company will be undertaking five refurbishment projects to increase seating capacity. These projects will take place over three months in five key tourism locations: Totnes, Swanage, Bude, Fowey, and Sidmouth.

The news comes as Cornish Bakery has outperformed much of the market in the second half of 2024, with a 9.7% like-for-like sales growth across existing bakeries, a 26% growth in total sales, and six new bakery openings during the year.

Mat Finch, managing director of Cornish Bakery, said: “The second half of 2024 saw a flurry of new openings in Nottingham, Taunton, Winchester, Chelmsford, Milton Keynes and Cirencester, and now we are completing five major refurbishments. It has been so rewarding to witness the customer appetite and enthusiasm for our brand.

“We’ve currently got another six new bakery locations lined up and will be announcing these soon. Alongside our constantly rising sales and team engagement figures, this all means that 2025 is going to be an exciting year for us.”

He added: “I am also delighted to announce we have just paid another dividend to all qualifying colleagues. This is additional to their half year bonus and we really believe this strengthens our relationships and gives the team a real sense of ownership.”
