Finca to open sixth site in Glastonbury

The company expected to recruit three or four new staff for the Glastonbury store, who will become trained baristas for the company

Coffee shop company Finca will be opening its sixth location in Glastonbury on Market Street, in the New Year.

The new Finca opening will sit in the original location of “fashionable” artisan coffee shop Mocha Berry, which first opened in 1959.

Finca established the first specialty coffee shop and roaster in the county town of Dorset when it opened in Great Western Road, Dorchester, in 2014. All roasting was originally performed on a 1kg CBR1200 shop roaster, but when it opened its second shop in Yeovil in 2016, it needed more capacity.

By the end of the same year, it had moved the roastery side of the business to a new site at The Grove in Dorchester where its capacity increased tenfold with the installation of a new 10kg drum roaster.

Finca then opened three more coffee shops, one in Poundbury at the end of 2017, one in Weymouth by Autumn of 2019, and then in South Street, Dorchester, in May of this year.

Visitors to the new coffee shop will experience the coffee shop’s trademark single origin specialty coffee which changes with the season. Caffeine lovers can expect to sample around 20 different coffees in the hoppers throughout the year.

The company expected to recruit three or four new staff for the Glastonbury store, who will become trained baristas for the company.

As the business only ever roasts newly-landed lots, with each origin only lasting three to four weeks, the new site should be a haven for passionate coffee fans wanting a different and changing experience.

Marti Iszatt, co-founder of Finca, said: “We list the tasting attributes alongside each of the coffees we serve in the hoppers, so customers can appreciate the different origin. And since we only buy specialty grade, 80-point or higher, single origin coffees, customers can expect each lot to have a natural sweetness in the cup.”

Don Iszatt, co-founder of Finca, added: ““We are looking for people who love coffee, are customer focused, and want to provide the very best end product and we’re currently looking for staff who can work at both our Somerset shops in Glastonbury and Yeovil.”

Finca currently doesn’t have a concrete opening day, but they are working on refurbishing the interior to recreate the “traditional Finca coffee shop experience”.
