Hebrides site Café Kisimul brought to market for £275,000

Café Kisimul, in Castlebay on the Isle of Barra, has been brought to market by DM Hall, being marketed for sale at offers over £275,000.

Named after Kisimul Castle, Norse for Castle Island which overlooks the village, the main settlement on the 1200 population island, Café Kisimul is a single storey, detached, licensed restaurant situated on the west side of Pier Road, Castlebay which lies to the south of the Island of Barra.

The 630 sq ft restaurant, which can accommodate 26 covers inside and a further 24 on the outside tables and benches, occupies a prime location 200m from the main ferry port.

Margaret Mitchell of DM Hall, who is overseeing the marketing process, said: “This is a great opportunity to acquire a successful, busy and readily managed restaurant with an established reputation.The current operation has been owner operated by the same family, Pauline and Rohit Bari, for 18 years and in this time has gained a reputation for the high-quality food being offered using locally sourced produce.

“At present the current opening hours are 4pm to 10pm Monday to Saturday operating set meal times of 4pm, 6pm or 8pm. It also offers a takeaway service between each sitting which provides roughly 20% of sales.”
