New all-day brunch venue Park Side to open in Cardiff

The venue in Lakeside will offer all-day dining, catering for up to 60 covers inside, with an additional 40 covers available on a covered, heated terrace

A brand-new, all-day brunch venue, Park Side, is set to open its doors at the Amber Vista development in Cardiff on 17 July.

Park Side was originally founded by 37 year-old Sophie Pascoe and her mother in 2021. It soon attracted a loyal following for serving coffee and sweet treats at its small original location in Heath Park.

Now, the second venue, based just a short walk from Roath Park lake and wild gardens, signifies a “big step up” for the brand, which has recently become part of the ‘Fire and Wine Group’ of venues.

The all-day menu, available from Wednesday to Sunday, will focus on brunch benchmarks like avocado, poached eggs and vine tomatoes on sourdough, or smoked salmon with ricotta, capers and soft scrambled eggs on sourdough, and a full veggie, vegan or classic breakfast.

The menu will also add some new “brunch favourites” like stuffed sourdough eggy bread with smoked bacon and cheddar, and buttermilk fried chicken French toast with hot honey.

Cakes and bakes for Park Side have always been supplied by local independents Carrot Top Bakery, who will be ramping up production to meet the increased capacity of the new Lakeside eatery.

With locally roasted coffee coming from Hard Lines, a longer drinks menu will offer brunch cocktails, wines by the glass, and a rotating selection of beers and lagers on draught. The venue will also remain open to offer a menu of charcuterie plates and cheese boards.

Pascoe said: “We’re thrilled to have Park Side joining the line-up of local, independent businesses at Amber Vista.

“Whether you’re coming down for a glass of something crafty at State of Love & Trust, popping into Thriv salon for a freshen up, or thinking of sticking around for a bite to eat and a glass of something at Park Side, Ballers or Bodega, there’s really something for everyone in this little corner of Cardiff now!”
