Senior team at Paddy and Scott’s complete MBO
The company has experienced 28% year-on-year growth and ‘significant’ progress in delivering positive social impact in coffee-growing regions around the world

Paddy and Scott’s Coffee CEO Jonathan Reed and operations director Zoe Hill have completed a management buy-out (MBO) of the Suffolk-based coffee wholesaler and cafe operator.
The company has experienced 28% year-on-year growth and “significant” progress in delivering positive social impact in coffee-growing regions around the world.
Established in 2007 by Scott Russell and Paddy Bishopp, who exited the business in 2016, the management team have secured significant funding to acquire the business after enjoying a “record breaking” performance in 2023.
The senior team of the company decided to complete an MBO to secure the future of Paddy and Scott’s “for years to come”.
Russell said: “In the last year, Paddy and Scott’s success has attracted multiple approaches to acquire the business, but I really can’t see Paddy and Scott’s future in the hands of a corporate organisation.
“Paddy and Scott’s is a Suffolk business, focused on empowering coffee farmers and the wider community. I’m delighted the company will continue to be independently owned and operated by the management team.”
Jonathan Reed, CEO of Paddy and Scott’s, added: “The business will greatly benefit from new energy, and we are thrilled to give Scott the opportunity to celebrate his 17 years and help many other UK businesses as a successful coach, investor and mentor.
“Since 2020, we have transformed the company and are immensely proud of the progress we’ve made. When the opportunity arose to acquire the business and safeguard our future commitments to coffee farmers and their families, it was something we just had to look at.”
Zoe Hill, operations director of Paddy and Scott’s, added: “It’s a moment of pride to have joined the company 10 years ago and now to call myself proud custodian and owner. We feel it is the perfect time to embark on the next chapter of our journey.
“Over the years, we have built a team of incredible people and look forward to empowering more coffee farmers, providing more school meals and ambition to children in coffee growing regions.”
