Anita Costello, chief international officer, said: “We are excited our restaurants will bring new jobs and opportunities throughout the UK. Serving communities is at the heart of everything we do at Chick-fil-A, and our unique local owner-operator model provides one of a kind access to entrepreneurial opportunities.”

Chick-fil-A first opened in Reading in 2019 but closed down following the expiration of its six month lease after protests.

The chain’s owners previously donated to Exodus International, an organisation which advocated gay “conversion therapy” before it shut down in 2013.

Since 2019, the company has stated that it donated $25,000 (£20,100) to charities aiding hunger every time a new restaurant opened.
