Yum Brands chief executive, David Gibbs, will retire from the role in 2026, having served since January 2020. During his tenure, Gibbs focused on leading the company’s digital transformation, building the company’s development engine and delivering “strong” shareholder returns powered by a “people-first” culture of collaboration. Simultaneously, he also navigated the company through the Covid-19 pandemic and “an increasingly complex operating environment”. 

The BII has partnered with the LTC to help support the wellbeing of publicans. Announced at the inaugural Licensed Trade Charity (LTC) Wellbeing Conference, the new partnership will provide pub people with easy access to expert help – on issues such as managing finances, coping with stress and handling difficult business decisions – whenever it is needed. From practical business guidance to personal wellbeing support, the two charities are formally working together to “ensure no one in the trade has to face challenges alone”. 

Manchester-born, Rudy’s Pizza Napoletana, will be opening a new pizzeria in Brighton this spring. Occupying the former Chilli Pickle site on Jubilee Square in the heart of Brighton’s North Laine, the new restaurant will feature Rudy’s signature minimalist and industrial-style decor in a 3,500 square-foot unit with approximately 160 covers for dining. Rudy’s signature dough is made fresh daily using Caputo ‘00’ flour which ferments for at least 24 hours. Customers at the Brighton pizzeria can expect a concise selection of Rudy’s classics.

Urban Pubs and Bars will reopen The Antelope in Tooting after a £1m refurbishment. Originally known as The Foresters Arms, the Victorian building will reopen with its historic interior having been carefully restored, with three large rooms still showcasing elements of its interwar-period refurbishment. The Rankin Room has been given a fresh lounge-like feel, making it more accessible than before, with space for up to 150 guests. Furthermore, the pub’s garden was a major focus of the refurbishment to the outdoor bar and seating.
