The Employment Rights Bill must reflect the sector’s “unique” position, UKH has urged the government. It comes as the Bill’s four technical consultations officially closed this week (Tuesday 2 December). In its submissions, UKH has highlighted that the proposed changes to statutory sick pay will have the unintended consequence of incentivising absenteeism.
D&D London CEO, David Loewi, has received the Restaurant Association’s Legend Award. The event, which was hosted on 2 December at The Savoy, London, brought together hospitality professionals and honoured category winners for their “outstanding” impact in the industry. Loewi’s award follows news that he will step down from his role at the end of 2024.
Costa Coffee kiosks will open at live events in 2025 as part of a deal with Freemans. The move builds on the success of the collaboration between Freemans Event Partners and Costa Coffee during the Summer’s Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris. The partnership saw eight mobile kiosks built and deployed in venues across France’s capital.
Applebee’s Fish is set to relaunch in February 2025 to celebrate 25 years in Borough Market. Having started as a fishmonger, Joy and Graham Applebee then moved into their first bricks-and-mortar seafood restaurant on Stoney Street. Spearheading the relaunch is their son Jack Applebee along with his two brothers.
