The Nero Group has seen a ‘record’ sales growth of 13.6% in H1, with sales reaching £310m – underpinned by an 8% rise in like-for-like sales. In the UK, Caffé Nero reported sales of £185.4m for the first half of the year, representing an overall growth of 11.4%. The airport business also opened two new sites during the period.
Nightcap has acquired Brighton’s i360 Tower, following a decision by Brighton and Hove City Council to release the debt in support of the landmark’s future under the bar group’s management. Under this agreement, Nightcap has taken over the remaining 115-year lease of the i360, a site recognised as “one of the world’s tallest moving observation towers”.
Drinks sales fell 5% year-on-year in the week to Saturday 25 January due to Storm Éowyn, according to data from CGA. Daily trade slumped 14% on Friday 24 January as Storm Éowyn raced in and many consumers were advised to stay at home. Although the next day was less affected by the windy weather, sales were down by 6% year-on-year.
Punch Pubs and Co has acquired The Bull pub in Ilchester, Somerset, for an undisclosed sum. The traditional wet-led pub sits within Punch’s Leased and Tenanted estate, and will be operated by experienced publican Yvonne Wright, who will be relaunching the Bull to ensure it remains at the heart of the community.
