Over 1,200 pubs will likely be closed this year, new data from CAMRA shows, compared to around 1,000 in 2023 and just over 800 in 2022. The “alarming” rate of licensee turnover in the pub trade comes as the crushing weight of unfair taxation and high operational costs leave businesses struggling. 

Compass One has acquired Peabodys Coffee, the provider of F&B within healthcare environments, as the Compass Group UK&I arm seeks to expand in the NHS. Led by Claudia Mascino, MD, Peabodys Coffee started its journey in 1997 in London hospitals, with food that is prepared daily. It currently employs 55 individuals and operates at 10 NHS sites.

News of the appointments come as the brand’s year-on-year sales have risen by 7.7%.

Bunsik will open its seventh UK site in Chinatown, London, on 31 October. The new grab-and-go site will serve a variety of popular Korean street food items, including the brand’s signature Corn Dogs. Bunsik’s expansion is set to continue, with franchise opportunities planned for 2025, as the brand aims to grow further across the UK.
