Cornish Bakery has appointed Tamweel to oversee a sale of the business. It comes as the chain has seen sustained year-on-year growth, with revenues and site EBITDA for the 12-month period to May 2025 expected to reach £37m and £8.3m respectively. Under the leadership of MD Mat Finch, Cornish Bakery also reported a 26% jump in revenues in the second half of 2024. Since 2022 the business opened 18 new bakeries.
Knoops has made four new appointments to the board and management team, as it looks to accelerate its expansion plans in the UK and abroad. Lush co-founder Andrew Gerrie is stepping up to the role of chair, having joined the company in January as a NED. he is joined on the board by former CEO of Game Group Martin Long, former president of Pret A Manger US Jo Brett, and former operations director at Marston’s Kai Hepworth.
Camm and Hooper and its sister company have been sold to Broadwick Group out of administration for an undisclosed amount. The pre-pack sale secured the future of the business, which has four sites across the capital, and saved 72 jobs. The group reported turnover of £10.5m in 2024, having invested in expanding its portfolio. However, prevailing market conditions resulted in a slower than anticipated return on investment.
Chef Tom Brown will open his new flagship restaurant on 10 April in Knightsbridge. Tom Brown at The Capital will mark a return to the hotel where he first made a name for himself as head chef at Outlaw’s, the 28-cover restaurant. As part of a wider refurbishment of The Capital Hotel, the restaurant and adjoining bar will feature a contemporary design. Brown expressed his dedication to using responsibly sourced seafood in his new venue.
