Today’s news in brief – 25/04/25

Domino’s has seen its total group-wide sales rise by 2.1% in Q1, having seen the positive trends present in the second half of 2024 continue into the new year. Like-for-like sales – excluding splits – saw an incremental rise of 0.5%, while total orders were also up 0.5% compared with the first quarter in 2024. During the period, Domino’s delivery orders grew by 1.3% compared with the previous quarter, which was attributed to a continued improvement in on-time deliveries and a reduction in late deliveries.
Market Taverns has promoted Adrian Laws to chief operations officer. He joined the group in June 2024 as operations director, having previously held senior operations positions at Youngs, Hippo Inns and Oakman Inns. In his new role, he will take on some wider responsibilities and work closely with the board to develop the future strategy for the business. He will also be appointed as a director, and take on the statutory duties and responsibilities of that role as well as focusing on boosting sales.
Japanese restaurant Kokin will be opening at The Stratford Hotel on 1 May. Occupying the space on the seventh floor, which was formerly home to Allegra, the 140-cover restaurant features two expansive terraces and a dedicated sushi bar. The new restaurant brings a fire-led, omakase-style menu that blends heritage Japanese techniques with contemporary seasonal cooking. It joins Kitchen E20, The Mezzanine and The Lounge as part of The Stratford’s growing collection of dining destinations.
London’s salad bar Atis will be opening its latest site in Mayfair on Monday 12 May, which will be the brand’s 11th site in the capital. Located on Grosvenor Street, Atis Mayfair will serve up the brand’s signature, build-your-own bowls and seasonal plates. As with all sites, the new location has been designed by Daytrip Studio to reflect Atis’ signature aesthetic – “clean, calm, and welcoming” – with plenty of space for dine-in or grab-and-go. The new opening follows the launch of its Covent Garden site last month.
