Asda appoints new MD for Leon
Mac Plumpton will succeed Ashley Davis, who has served in an interim capacity as managing director since November 2023
Leon owner Asda has announced the appointment of the former Tapas Revolution executive, Mac Plumton, as the new managing director of the healthy fast food chain.
Plumpton will succeed Ashley Davis, who has served in an interim capacity as MD since November 2023.
Davis is set to depart Leon in June 2024 to the newly-created chief commercial officer role at ready meal retailer, Cook.
Plumpton held senior positions at Tapas Revolution for 10 years until 2020, first as operations director and then as MD from November 2016.
He also served as director of operations at UK restaurant chain Rosa’s Thai and MD of craft brewer, Crate.
The appointment of a new MD comes after Glenn Edwards stepped down from the role in November last year, having overseen the chain’s ownership transition from EG Group.
Asda acquired Leon from EG Group in a £2.07bn deal in May 2023, taking full ownership of Leon’s 78 UK stores, in addition to 462 licensed Greggs, Burger King and Subway sites.
According to Asda, it has mulled opening Leon stores at a selection of its 640 UK supermarkets.
