Kerth Gumbs, head chef at the Ormer Mayfair restaurant in London, has announced that he is stepping down from the role.

Gumbs, who headed the restaurant for five years, took to Instagram to confirm his departure – stating that the “time has come”  for him to start a “new chapter” in his professional life.

The restaurant, which is situated in the Flemings Mayfair Hotel, was voted one of the top five restaurants in London by Hardens Restaurant Guide 2018.

It is run in partnership with chef and TV personality Shaun Rankin who previously launched the first Ormer site in 2013 in Jersey  – however that venue has since closed and is now run under a new name.

Gumbs said: “Ormer Mayfair and I are parting ways keeping each other dear to our hearts. I loved Ormer right from its inception, I gave it my passion but also sweat, blood and dedication .

“The past 5 years were filled with joy, moments of fulfillment and professional pride. I am happy to have contributed towards Ormer’s growth and wish them continued success.”

He added: “My continued promise -my heart is always worn on my sleeve. Wherever I go, I will always bring my passion, dedication, love and  respect to food in efforts to create long lasting culinary memories. And I am very excited to explore new opportunities and develop my next culinary chapter.”
