The Breakfast Club appoints interim MD

The co-founder of All Bar One answered the open call for applications

The Breakfast Club has appointed Steve Locke, co-founder of the UK pub chain All Bar One, as its interim managing director.

Owner of the self-proclaimed “caf”, Jonathan Arana-Morton, first opened applications for the role in November 2020 through an online statement.

At the time he made his need for “a leader with drive, determination and a fighting spirit” public via LinkedIn, as he called out his own leadership skills as “not quite good enough”.

Locke responded to the plea for help in overseeing operations across the group’s 12 locations, a number Arana-Morton hopes to grow to 30 with the newfound support.

In an updated LinkedIn announcement, Arana-Morton said: “I stress, this appointment is initially on an interim basis so Steve can help us plot our way through the next few months and fly out of the post pandemic traps. We haven’t closed the door on a long term permanent appointment.

“But for now, I’m extremely excited at the idea of getting my head down, working hard and very much looking forward to the next stage of all this, building the nation’s best loved caf.”

Founded in 2005, the Breakfast Club now employs roughly 340 staff members across ten London locations alongside establishments in both Brighton and Oxford.
