The Goring enlists Nathan Outlaw for first new restaurant in 108 years

The Goring hotel in London’s Belgravia has teamed up with chef Nathan Outlaw to build a seafood restaurant, set to launch in late spring 2019, its first new restaurant since it was established in 1910.

The casual space will sit alongside the five-star hotel’s flagship restaurant, The Dining Room, which is headed by executive chef, Shay Cooper. The Dining Room serves British cuisine and is a holder of a Michelin star and three AA Rosettes. The new restaurant will have a “heavy tilt” towards Cornish produce.

Outlaw, who has been a friend of the Goring family’s extensive Cornish branch for many years, will create simple seafood dishes to showcase Cornish seafood and produce. Alongside the restaurant, the hotel’s bar will serve classic cocktails and British spirits.

With views overlooking the hotel’s secluded garden, the restaurant will be housed in an orangery, linking the indoor and outdoor spaces throughout the seasons. The architecture and design is being overseen by interior designers Russell Sage. The Goring is London’s last remaining family-owned luxury hotel and is dubbed ‘her majesty’s local’.

Jeremy Goring, CEO, said: “Some of the best seafood in the world comes from the pristine waters around Cornwall. We’re looking forward to bringing this West Country treasure to London, with the help of Nathan Outlaw. We’re building an eccentric, uplifting space with the help of some very special craftsmen and designers, and the restaurant will be all about simplicity on the plate, freshness, and our usual heartfelt British service.”

Outlaw added: “Creating a new restaurant with such an iconic British hotel is a huge highlight in my career. I can’t wait to get cooking.”
