The William Morgan pub to reopen following refurb

The pub was built in the late 1800s, and is named William Morgan after a bishop from St Asaph, who was famed for translating the bible into Welsh in the 16th Century

The William Morgan pub in Prestatyn is set to re-open its doors on 21 February, following a huge six-figure investment from the Stonegate Group.

The new-look pub will also host a grand launch party from Thursday 22 February, through to Sunday 25 February.

The venue has undergone a full renovation, featuring brand new decoration throughout, an extensive outdoor space, with new fixed seating to the front of the main building and a little suntrap beer garden to the rear. The bathrooms have also been renovated to a “high standard”, and brand-new TVs have been installed for the summer of sporting events.

The pub was built in the late 1800s, and is named William Morgan after a bishop from St Asaph, who was famed for translating the bible into Welsh in the 16th Century. The space has been transformed many times throughout the years, from confectioners, to café, but has remained a “popular local pub” since 2007.

The pub also provides a dog water fountain and treats completely free for pets, and also aims to partner with a local dog-friendly charity in the area.

The pub will also take part in a book-swap initiative and will be launching Sunday Roasts as part of their menu upon re-opening.

The pub will be managed by general manager Zoe Platt. Having graduated through Stonegate’s internal development scheme Accolade, and Accelerator, Platt was appointed as general manager at the William Morgan.

Couple of Platt’s long-standing team will also remain upon re-opening.

Platt said: “Taking this site through an investment has always been a huge personal goal of mine. It’s taken a long time to build the right team, drive our standards and make sure we execute consistently at a high level, and in the last 12 months we’ve finally cracked it! We come highly recommended through all of our Feedback and regularly get awarded a Travellers Choice Award on TripAdvisor.

“As a Team we’re also really passionate about trying to give back and have done lots over the years to raise money for charities, both local and National, and have raised over £1000 for various charities in the last year, and have also hosted annual Toy Collections every Christmas for North Wales Superkids since 2018, as well as supporting the Prestatyn and Meliden Food Bank over Christmas for the last couple of years. I can’t wait to welcome all our locals back to the new-look venue – I couldn’t be more pleased.”
