Weymouth pub hits the market for the first time in 40 years

The Weatherbury is a 18th century pub and restaurant with 10 ensuite bedrooms and a beer garden

The Weatherbury, a traditional pub with rooms in the coastal town of Weymouth, has hit the market for the first time in nearly 40 years with an asking price of £650,000.

Located in a residential neighbourhood a short walk from Weymouth beach, The Weatherbury is a 18th Century pub and restaurant with 10 ensuite bedrooms and a beer garden.

The pub is popular with both local residents and visitors all year round, with trade largely led by wet sales along with the business’ B&B offering which runs at full capacity through most of the summer months.

The property has been owned by the current owner since the 1980s, who has now decided the time is right to step back and retire.

The pub kitchen has not been in operation for the last 12 months, creating an opportunity for a new owner to develop this side of the business further.

Ryan Bassett, business agent at Christie and Co who is managing the sale, said: “This is a very exciting opportunity: it’s rare to see a pub which hasn’t been on the market in nearly 40 years.

“Its location, in a busy neighbourhood of Weymouth yet slightly set back from the coast, enables The Weatherbury to benefit from both tourist trade and local support, and re-opening the kitchen will be a ‘quick win’ here, as well as continuing to engage with the community, who have teams for pool, darts and more.”
