York pub to reopen following £304k investment from Stonegate

The pub will also show off a new drinks menu, featuring cocktails and real ales, as well as a new food menu that will have some new additions of pub classics

York-based pub, The Stonebow, which was formerly known as The Terrace, is set to reopen to the local community on Monday 24 July following a £304k investment by the Stonegate Group

The pub has received a “fresh, new” look inside featuring new furnishings and fittings, and eight new HD TV screens. Its beer garden as also been revamped for the summer

Upon reopening, the pub will also show off a new drinks menu, featuring cocktails and real ales, as well as a new food menu that will have some new additions of pub classics.

The venue plans to host quiz nights, poker nights, games nights and live music events throughout the year, as well as screening live sports, as the pub has been a favourite among football fans. 

The Stonebow has also announced the appointment of its general manager Joe Sophocleous, who began his career in the pub industry at the age of 18. 

Sophocleous worked his way up from a bar team member to now running venues, having worked at the Stonegate Group for six and a half years. 

Sophocleous said: “I’m excited to bring my experience and love for hospitality to The Stonebow and become a part of the local community. With the support of my talented team, we aim to create a welcoming and enjoyable atmosphere at our wonderful pub. 

“We look forward to seeing you all as soon as our doors open and at our launch party weekend, please feel free to bring along your furry family members!”

To celebrate the Stonebow’s investment and reopening, the general manager and the team will be holding a grand launch party across the weekend of 28 July that will be one “for all you music fans”.
