Red Oak Taverns acquires new Waltham Abbey pub

The pub will be the fourth acquisition this year for the group, which already bought two in the Midlands and one in South West

Red Oak Taverns has completed a further pub acquisition, The Crown in Romeland, Waltham Abbey from brewer McMullen’s.

This is the fourth single site acquisition this year for Red Oak which back in February had already bought three pubs from Marston’s, two in the Midlands and one in the South West.

Speaking about the acquisition, property director for Red Oak Taverns, Graeme Bunn said: “The Crown is located in the centre of Waltham Abbey and is a traditional pub serving the local community. We are delighted that McMullen’s chose to work with us in selling one of their assets.”

For the year ahead, Red Oak Taverns has said it wants to continue growing its pub estate and is seeking single site and package acquisitions to add to its pub portofolio.

The latest transaction was handled by property specialist Fleurets and currently there are plans in place to invest in improvements at the pub.

Elysia Wilson-Gunn, senior associate of Fleurets, added: “Delighted to have been instructed by McMullen’s we have sold The Crown Public house to Red Oak Taverns knowing it will be in capable hands and continue to operate successfully.”
