Big Mamma FY turnover hits £40m amid social media buzz

According to the recent filing on Companies House, Big Mamma Group’s London locations were ‘fully booked one month in advance’

French hospitality group Big Mamma, which operates Italian-style restaurants, has reported that its UK turnover almost doubled from £26m in 2022 to £40m in the year to 31 December 2023.

Meanwhile, pre-tax profits hit £3.7m during the period, rising exponentially since the £359k recorded for 2022.

The group has attributed its strong performance to the social media buzz it has garnered, both through its own accounts and from guests who post about visiting its London locations.

According to Big Mamma’s recent filing on Companies House, its London locations Gloria, Circolo Popolare, Ave Mario, Jacuzzi and Carlotta were “fully booked one month in advance” throughout the entirety of 2023 due to its “strong brand presence on social media”. 

Big Mamma’s UK Instagram account currently boasts some 299,000 followers, with competitors Sexy Fish and Bacchanalia having 176,000 and 266,000 followers respectively.

As a result of its popularity in the capital, the group has recently announced that it will be expanding with the opening of a new restaurant – La Belleza – in Birmingham

Big Mamma also has plans to expand its presence with further openings in Manchester and Canary Wharf.
