Cardiff-based Mediterranean-inspired restaurant Bodega has appointed Rhodri Davies as its new head chef.
Davies, a Cardiff native and former contestant on MasterChef: The Professionals 2021, joins Bodega known for his “refined” approach to seasonal cuisine.
He honed his skills at two Michelin-recommended establishments; The Heathcock in Llandaff, where he served modern British fare; and Heaneys in Pontcanna working under Great British Menu chef Tommy Heaney.
According to Bodega, since stepping into his role in late 2024, Davies has “embraced the restaurant’s ethos of celebrating the elemental forces of smoke and fire, infusing Mediterranean-inspired creations with an innovative touch”.
Bodega’s menu is divided into snacks, small plates, and sharer plates, along with a wide variety of fine wines by the glass.
Guests can also opt to sit at the ‘Chef’s Counter’ or book into one of Bodega’s monthly chef tasting nights.
Bodega is owned and operated by Sophie Pascoe and Benito Martinez, both Cardiff natives. The duo also own and run Ballers restaurant (in Lakeside, Cardiff) Park Side (in Heath and Lakeside, Cardiff) and The Priory hotel and restaurant (in Caerleon).
Davies said: “I’m thrilled to be leading the kitchen at Bodega and leaning into the art of cooking with fire. We love to share a dynamic, intimate dining experience with our guests and showcase how fire transforms the way we eat and enjoy food.”
