Bunsik to open new site in Manchester
With three branches in London – Chinatown, Embankment and Camden, the new site is its first non-London restaurant
London-based Korean street food and corn dog specialist Bunsik has announced the launch of its fourth site in Manchester on 7 July 2023.
With three branches in London – Chinatown, Embankment and Camden, the new site is its first non-London restaurant.
Occupying a 2,000 square foot site on Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens, the new restaurant will offer an evolved menu of its London counterparts featuring a wider selection of its “infamous” corn dogs.
Bunsik’s menu will include all kinds of corn dog options, such as: The Original Corn Dog (premium chicken sausage with crispy outside); Half and Half (a combination of chicken sausage and mozzarella cheese); The Potato Corn Dog (premium chicken sausage with potato cubes wrapped around); and The Beef Corn Dog (premium beef sausage with crispy outside).
Other menu highlights include: Kimbap (cooked rice, vegetables, fishcake, and meat rolled in gim – dried sheets of seaweed – and served in bite-sized slices); Ddukbokki (cylindrical rice cakes cooked in a spicy sauce); Korean Fried Chicken (tossed in a variety of sauces including sweet and spicy, honey garlic, and dakgangjeong); Cup Bap (rice, noodles, broccoli and chicken); and a variety of Korean chicken burgers.
Additionally, the Bunsik team will also introduce a new dessert, Bingsu, made from frozen cream or milk, available exclusively at the new Manchester site. Toppings range from chopped fruit and condensed milk to fruit syrup and red beans.
Customers can also choose from a range of bubble teas including Strawberry, Chocolate and Matcha Latte Bubble Tea.
Bunsik said: “Korean corn dogs are believed to have been around since the 1980s in Korea and have since gained notoriety in Taiwan, Japan, China, the US, and now, Manchester.
“For the uninitiated, a Korean corn dog is made from either sausage, cheese, or a combination of the two; skewered, dipped in batter then rolled in breadcrumbs; topped with potato, diced french fries, crushed ramen noodles, or crispy rice before hitting the fryer and cooked to a perfect golden brown. Being one of the country’s most innovative and successful street-food brands, Bunsik will seamlessly fit into Manchester’s thriving culinary scene, bringing something new to the fore.”
