Chopstix expands travel hub presence with third roadside opening

Welcome Break has worked closely with Chopstix to maximise existing site revenues and to identify Welcome Break locations well-placed for new units

Quick service restaurant chain Chopstix has opened its third roadside location this year in partnership with Welcome Break at Gretna Green Services A74 (M).

This comes as the group aims to strengthen its presence at travel hubs, as they have already proven highly effective at driving revenues and supporting brand awareness.

The new unit, which is the 18th Chopstix restaurant to open with the franchisee, can be accessed by both northbound and southbound traffic which makes it a “highly convenient” location and a strong factor why Gretna Green was picked.

In recent years, Welcome Break has worked closely with Chopstix to maximise existing site revenues and to identify Welcome Break locations well-placed for new units.

As part of the agreement, the franchisee oversees the full management of the site, with employees undergoing an “extensive” induction.

Chopstix’s portfolio of sites at travel hubs includes highly successful motorway service area units, rail, and tube sites, as well as at London Luton Airport, its first airport location, which launched in the summer of 2023.

Aaron Moore-Saxton, franchise director of Chopstix, said: “We see huge opportunity and considerable headroom for growth in travel hubs, so I’m thrilled we’re opening another site with Welcome Break.

“Located on the Scottish border, where we know Chopstix is very popular, while catering to both sides of the A74 (M), we agreed with Welcome Break that this was the ideal next opening for the brand. I’m sure the Welcome Break team at Gretna Green will have great success with this new unit.”
