Loewi will serve as advisor to the board with a particular emphasis on international expansion while a new CEO is appointed

David Loewi, CEO of D&D London, has received the Legend Award sponsored by Fabergé at the Restaurant Association Gala Dinner and Awards, hosted on 2 December at The Savoy, London.

The event brought together the hospitality professionals, honouring category winners for their “outstanding” impact in the industry.

The news comes as D&D London announced that Loewi will be stepping down from his role after 30 years on 31 December 2024.

Loewi will serve as advisor to the board with a particular emphasis on international expansion while a new CEO is appointed.

D&D London is a group of luxury restaurants, bars and hotels based principally in London, but also with venues in Leeds, Paris, and New York.

Today, D&D London owns and operates more than 40 restaurants and an award-winning hotel. The group’s restaurant Angler also currently holds a Michelin Star.

Winners of the Legend Award were spotlighted for their leadership and innovation, with the event proceeds benefiting the World Young Chef Young Waiter Education Foundation and the World Young Chef Young Waiter Young Mixologist competition, empowering the future of emerging talent in the global hospitality scene.

Loewi, CEO of D&D London, said: “It is an incredible honour to receive the Legend Award, sponsored by Fabergé, a recognition that carries profound personal significance. Over my 40+ years in the hospitality industry and my longstanding association with the Restaurant Association, I have been privileged to witness firsthand the remarkable work this organisation does to support and champion our industry.

“RA has been a cornerstone of excellence in hospitality, and to be acknowledged by such a respected institution is deeply humbling. This award is not just a testament to my journey but a celebration of the passion and dedication of everyone who contributes to making our industry so vibrant and enduring. I am truly grateful.”

Robert Walton MBE, president of The Restaurant Association, added: “The awards were a celebration of the very best in our industry. It is an honour to recognise those who are shaping the past, present and future of hospitality.

“The 2024 Gala was an unforgettable night, filled with remarkable talent and generosity as we also focus on supporting the next generation of culinary and service professionals. The Restaurant Association inaugural RA Awards was delighted to honour David Loewi with the RA Legends Award, kindly sponsored by Fabergé.”
