Franklin and Baines set for March opening in Clapham

The new concept was brought about by restaurateur Olivier Cohen and leisure entrepreneur Ashley Letchford

Franklin and Baines, a new British and American steak and cocktail restaurant, is set for opening on Monday 4 March in Clapham.

The new concept was brought about by restaurateur Olivier Cohen, owner of south London French steak restaurant Bordelaise, and leisure entrepreneur Ashley Letchford, who has seen success from the chain of London pubs, The Jam Tree.

Franklin and Baines is named after well-known former Clapham residents, US founding father Benjamin Franklin and Sir Frank Baines, architect of the MI5 building.

According to the duo behind the new restaurant, it will offer “a playful take” on combining British steak and cocktails with a roof terrace that is due to open later on in the spring.

In addition, Franklin and Baines will offer DJs and live music on the weekends.

Located in the heart of Clapham High Street, consultant chef Fernando Lerroude, the previous master griller at The Gaucho group, has helped to  create the menu and will offer “a take on food from Britain and America with a big focus on grilled steaks”.
