London’s newest street food market to open in Holloway
The Upper Place, a brand-new street food market, is set to open early 2019 on the first floor of Nags Head Market in Holloway.
The Upper Place will offer guests a tour around the globe through a selection of street food brands with a focus on authentic and innovative concepts. The market will ensure all vendors are offering dishes to suit all dietary requirements including a variety of vegan and vegetarian options.
The Upper Place aims to target multiple audiences including tourists, students, Londoners as well as local businesses and residents. It will also offer “an informal and sociable environment” with sharing tables to encourage group dining.
There are numerous further developments in mind for the future of The Upper Place to include a roof terrace garden and vintage games room.
The Upper Place co-founder and managing director Simone Moroni, also manages pub group The Italian Job based in Chiswick, Notting Hill and within Mercato Metropolitano. The Italian Job will open two sites within The Upper Place, one on each floor of the market.
The founders of The Upper Place are partnering with the owners of the Nags Head Market, which will be their first joint venture with big plans to expand the brand throughout London and the UK. The market will be approximately 7,000 square foot and have a total of 17 units within the space across the first floor and an additional five units on the ground floor court; vendors can choose between a half or full-size unit.
Moroni said: “We’re hugely excited about this new project, The Nags Head Market opened in 1975 and has a great history as a local market serving the local community for so many years. By investing in the first floor of the market we are redeveloping an existing part of the building, which will be united with the downstairs market, adding value to this iconic destination.
“We are investing in Holloway as we see the enormous potential here, to create a destination for dining that this area and the local community deserves.”
