Marcus Belgravia appoints masterchef winner as head chef

Craig Johnston joined the restaurant in April 2018 as a senior chef de partie, and since, has worked his way up to junior sous, sous and now head chef

Marcus Belgravia has announced that Craig Johnston – winner of Masterchef: The Professionals 2017 – has been promoted to the role of head chef.

Johnston joined the team in April 2018 as a senior chef de partie, and since, has worked his way up to junior sous, sous and now head chef.

As he was the youngest winner of Masterchef at the time, he steps into this senior position at just 26.

In this new role, he will continue to work alongside Marcus Wareing and chef patrons, Mark and Shauna Froydenlund, to ensure the smooth running of the Marcus kitchen.

Wareing said: “Craig’s talent as a chef has shone through from the day I met him on MasterChef. Through determination and hard work, he has grown into a strong individual and a natural leader in the kitchen. Having given himself the time to develop and learn, I’m incredibly confident he’s ready for this next step.

“He is deserving of this and every accolade and I can’t wait to see how he elevates the Marcus kitchen even further in this new position.”
